Olivia & William's Wedding

Updated: Dec 18, 2024

In 2022, Platinum Designs of Longview, TX was winning the Best Interior Designer award, offered by the readers of Longview News Journal. The mother-daughter team, Olivia and Robin, have a phenomenal taste for light, clean and elegant decor - including fashion. This is why, in 2024, when Olivia started looking for a baker who could help her surprise her fiancee with a 3d carved and sculpted cake, it came as no surprise to her friends and family that she would be looking for something... different. Olivia crossed paths with Prosculpted on Facebook. She was looking for a cake that would have a special shape and would encompass everything that William loves. William is an avid football fan. He was a Silver Spur when he was at UT and was one of the Bevo XIV handlers. He was also a Phi Psi, is highly educated and well spoken. Olivia wanted to gift him a cake that not only reflects who he is, but is also meaningful to both of them. There were a number of design options that we covered, and after a short chat, Prosculpted came up with a cake design that reflects who William is and what he loves.

We considered the option of going with a longhorn-head shaped cake, or a football stadium-shaped cake, but given that so much of Olivia and William's story revolves around longhorns and the University of Texas, we decided to go with the Silver Spur / Bevo / UT theme. After having designed this phenomenal Groom cake in secret, as a wedding surprise for William, Olivia, Robin (bride's mother), David & Susan (groom's parents) decided to entrust Prosculpted with the Bridal cake as well. The Bridal cake was supposed to be a stellar embodiment of everything that any bride dreams of, with a touch of fairy-tale charm: a modern Cinderella-inspired wedding cake, but very tastefully designed and executed. This cake was going to be a reflection of Olivia's refined taste, warm and open personality, her elegant and tasteful glamorous style and nevertheless, to celebrate Olivia and William's "Happily Ever After" love story. The challenge with designing such a cake lies in being able reproduce the magical atmosphere of a fairy-tale and bring to life the sparkle, elegance and amazement without invoking a cartoon-like resemblance. We studied 3 options, looked at the budget and did a little bit of market research to see if we could actually produce a magical, elegant fairy-tale spectacular cake - and we ended up with this beautiful, white and gold cake:

While the groom's cake featured the UT logo, the longhorn mascot (stuffed with Hershley's Kisses Chocolates!), the iconic Silver Spur uniform and the iconic UT tower (a functional keepsake nightstand lamp operated by batteries), the bridal cake was designed to integrate the colors and the overall aesthetic style of the bridal gown, the family crest used on the wedding invitations, and to amplify the elegance of the venue. The venue of choice was - not surprising - the breathtaking 600+ acres Videre Estate, located in the awe inducing South Texas landscape, 12 minutes away from the mesmerizing Jacob's Well. The main hall, where the cakes were carefully set up by Prosculpted, is a light, elegant and pristine grand chamber that opens up towards the landscape with a grand terrace. The warm light is allowed in with abundance, and is very well used to create that airy look that modern brides look for. The large windowed areas allows for the ample outside ceremony space to be visible from the inside and for the unique autumn colors to visually flood into the room, like a live painting. The white marble floors, white ceilings and white walls are very carefully coordinated with wood accents. The venue's coloring scheme is very elegant and works well with any wedding coloring palette.

Olivia and William made great use of the venue and opted to work with an experienced photography team, the well-know East Texan's Lindsay Steele of www.lindsaysteelephotography.com While The Videre Estate is a gorgeous venue (and the team is genuinely welcoming and flexible in their work with the other vendors), a good photographer is the one who can help the couple re-live that feeling of being showered with light on their wedding day. This is why Lindsay was a really great choice; her pictures are airy, light and capture very well this hazy-white magical atmosphere at The Videre Estate. When it comes to decor, Olivia and William chose a fresh, crisp palette, predominantly white with black, gold and moody-mossy green accents. This entire ambiance worked very well with the white and gold 3D sculpted Bridal wedding cake and the carved chocolate Groom's cake. Carla Hart of Next Level Events and Designs was involved hands-on in the design, setup and decoration. From the rich flower arrangements to the small and refined details, Carla managed to make the main hall at Videre Estate sparkle with elegance and discretion. The tables were very tastefully set up, and everything was done over night.

When it comes to experiencing the excitement of 3D cakes, all 3D figurines presented with the carved cakes were fully edible - and Olivia and William's very efficient and well organized catering team (Dreams Events ATX) made sure everyone got a little bit of everything to taste. The figurines were executed out of marshmallow-based fondant, french couverture chocolate and gumpaste, while the flavors were chosen to please the most refined taste. The Texan Longhorn figurine, designed to resemble Bevo XIV, was hollow on the inside and stuffed with no less than 3.5lb of chocolate kisses. (How appropriate for this celebration of love, don't you think?) The 3D groom figurine was designed to resemble the groom.

The groom's cake flavor was a decadent Classic Red Velvet Cake with Milk Chocolate Ganache and Whipped Cream Cheese Buttercream. The Bridal cake came with three different favors, selected from our 2025 flavors: the enchanted chariot flavor was our beloved Tiramisu (Lady Fingers Cake and Espresso Coffee Layers (alternated) with coffee coolie (decaf) and Bourbon Buttercream), the Chateau Tier's flavor of choice was our famous S'More (Graham Cake Layer with Chocolate Frosting, Graham Cracker Layer with Toasted Marshmallow Frosting and Chocolate Ganache) and the Crest Tier's flavor was our scrumptious Morning Elegance Cake (Champagne Cake with Raspberry Coolie and Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream).

The Bridal Cake design was a collage of wedding elements that were meaningful for Olivia and William. The family crest printed on the wedding invitations was reproduced on the front of the bottom tier, while the back of the cake reproduced the design of the back of Olivia's dress.

The middle tier of the Bridal cake represented the base, shaft and capital of a chateau's column - a very appropriate pedestal for the enchanted chariot!

The Bridal Cake top tier represented an enchanted chariot, inspired by the traditional fairy-tale pumpkin chariot, while the anti-gravitational Cake Topper was a keepsake night stand lamp in the shape of a 3D printed castle, floating on a pillar of clouds.

As you can tell, the groom's cake and the bridal cake shared one common element that made the design come together: they both had a cloud included in the design.

Although the cake is no more, the story is continuing to unravel, and these beautiful people have an entire lifetime ahead of them to enjoy each other, their wedding memories and... a slice of cake!
